student learning projects (2008 - ongoing)
Making Sense: 2008
We believe that it is important to engage students in this research programme in order that they become familiar with research as a process of creative and critical inquiry. To date two undergraduate projects have taken place with pre-final year students in 3D Design. The first, in December 2008,
used ARP to generate a word set for action - 'ingredients' to stimulate creativity.
Making Sense: 2009
The analysis of the 2008 project informed a revised format
for 2009, which included an extended set of sensory stimuli -
object, sound, image, as well as the linguistic.
Outcomes from student projects:
• a greater understanding by students of practice-led
research and its methodologies and methods
(visit the 2009 student project)
• a paper in progress focusing on methodology and methods used in the initiating project (Burnett and Gray) as well as from the student projects
• an invited case study report for QAA's Research-Teaching Linkages Enhancement Theme contributing to the
articulation of graduate attributes.
Making Sense: 2011
A new project has been completed involving students from three different disciplines: occupational therapy, three dimensional design, sculpture. Visit the 2011 student project.
